New Smokestack In Dogpatch Sends Good Vibes & Great Taste Into Universe
Historic Dogpatch has a new Smokestack at the American Industrial Center on 3rd Street. But, this 21st century Smokestack At Magnolia Brewery named after the Grateful Dead cover of Howlin’ Wolf’s Smokestack, only sends good vibes and great tastes into the universe. Two doors from the southeast corner of 22nd and 3rd you’ll find a new community hub with a take it further vibe. You’ll relish Smokestack’s on-site amazing Magnolia Brewery beers and a long, refined whiskey list, uplifting cocktails and BBQ with a rep reaching further and far beyond rapidly evolving Dogpatch. In subdued tones and light, Smokestack’s engaging designer-aged industrial interior evokes Dogpatch’s manufacturing past at the Bay’s edge.
After Boston University and a stint in NYC’s financial industry, proprietor Dave McLean began his trip with the Grateful Dead through 150 shows around the country…and then settled in Jerry’s town. Dave also lived in England and treasures the community that thrives around pubs with great food and drink. Dave tasted the craft beers at those 150 shows and is now Magnolia’s Master Brewer. Sixteen years ago he opened Haight Street’s very popular Magnolia Gastropub and Brewery and The Alembic bar and restaurant.
Drinking and eating on picnic tables in Smokestack with friends is like being at the Teddy Bears Picnic with the best pork BBQ and sides possible. The BBQ is from organic Bay Area hogs raised partly with the organic grain residual used in Magnolia Brewery. The atmosphere and space is open like the parking lots and campgrounds outside Dead shows. Smokestack evokes a place where things are made, life is lived and Teddy Bears play and shout and never have a care.
